General Health Measures

In all matters of health, CBE takes direction from Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services. Find out how you can reduce the spread and lessen the impact of illness in school communities.

Routine Immunizations

The CBE supports the AHS school-based immunization program.

lllness at School

If a student becomes ill and/or is injured at school, he/she should notify a teacher and in turn, this student should report to the office. If the illness or injury appears to be serious, a parent will be notified by school personnel and will be requested to come to school to take the student home or for a medical examination. Students are not to remain in a washroom without notifying their teacher or the office.

Communicable Diseases

Please check with the Community Health Nurse or your local clinic for information regarding diseases and the subsequent exclusion period for the various diseases. Calgary Health Services Communicable Diseases can be contacted at 403-955-6750.

Allergies/Medical Concerns

Please advise school administration of any significant medical problems. In particular, an Allergy Alert form must be filled out for all students with life threatening allergies, or those who use an EPI-PEN.

Grade 9 Vaccination Program

Grade 9 students will be receiving vaccinations this year in the school. Prior to vaccinations the school nurse will be providing an education session to the students regarding the vaccines. We have sent home consent forms for the vaccines with your child. Please read the instructions carefully and send the consents back to the school within 3 days. If you have not received the consent forms or have any questions please contact your school nurse Nitasha Chrispin at 403-944-7007.
